Issues with getting online:
- 14 hours to only manage half of a 400mb patch, did some reading and found that you can download patches using uTorrent. Downloaded entire 400mb patch in 40 minutes.
- Signing up for a paypal lookalike to authorise credit card payments, I understand they want some assurances for payments but this is a bit silly.
- Actually subscribing to the game and activating one character slot, this had me stumped for another 30mins or so and of course I didn't think to check the manual.
Issues once online:
- Not very intuitive for an MMO. Being an FF MMO so I should have expected some of the things that happened. Like being thrown in the deep end with a battle right at the start complete with awesome looking cutscenes.
- Finding the keyboard and mouse setup to be somewhat counter-intuitive I setup my xBox controller for Windows.
- Having no idea about crafting, ditto how the monster indicators work. System goes in terms of easiness from Blue > Green > Yellow > Orange > Red and heaven help you if you find a red that doesn't like your clothing. Being one-shot by some goober spitting faux snake lizard dragon thing does nothing for your ego.
Also don't poke the DoDos!
Overall evaluation so far:
LOVING IT! Sure it was frustrating to begin with and I spent a lot of time chasing circles around myself to work out how to get it all going. But now... oh boy, I've found a linkshell with some great people who will hopefully let me stay on a permanent basis. We've been chatting about this that and the other, and trying to work out why an armor upgrade that doubles defence manages to cover 1/3rd of the amount of skin as before. Worked on Fighting Levequests and Crafting Levequests and been having a blast doing it all.
So overall? You might have trouble to begin with, check the guides that are out there, or the manual that comes with your game, and if you are a Final Fantasy fan you should enjoy this MMO.
